Mission:
The dining facility is operated by SODEXHO. To provide high quality, healthy, nutritious, and tasty food product that is appealing to the eye. Our goal is not to punish the confinee, but rather treat them fairly. We are committed to purchasing, preparing, and presenting them with food items of the highest quality. We are committed to attempting to make each dining experience a pleasant one.
Purpose:
The mess deck is a critical area of operation as it applies to the security and morale of staff and confinee alike. Sanitation of the mess deck is very important, as is the case with any food preparation or service area. Foodservice/sanitation standards are prescribed in the Manual of Naval Preventive Medicine (NAVMED P5010-1) (NOTAL) and are strictly adhered to here at the Brig.
The mess deck is staffed by qualified personnel in the foodservice field, with security personnel posted to monitor confinee and ensure accountability of silverware and other kitchen utensils.
All escorts supervising confinees who are assigned outside work details will receive meals prepared by a military mess hall for the detail. At no time will a confinee be offered a meal not prepared by a military dining facility, i.e., McDonald's, Burger King, etc..
Meal Rates:
Breakfast: $1.90 Lunch: $3.50 Dinner: $3.50 Breakfast Brunch: $4.00 Dinner Brunch: $4.90 Holiday: $5.80
- Brunch is a meal served in lieu of the normal breakfast and lunch meals and consisting of both breakfast and lunch food items. - Messing Policies. Person must not be receiving meal portion of perdiem.
