Lodging (Ft Meade Billeting)

Lodging (Curtis Bay CG Lodging)

Long-Term Parking

  • Available commercially via BWI Airport lots. Also, the BWI Park-Sleep-Fly web site lists lodging that offer free parking (for a certain period up to 14 days) if you stay one (or more) nights (may work out cheaper than the airport paid lots).
  • Alternatively, consider the longterm parking area (free) at Curtis Bay Coast Guard Station (just southeast of Baltimore at 2401 Hawkins Point Road, Curtis Bay, MD 21226) and take a taxi to BWI.  To use the long term parking area (right outside the main gate) enter through the gate and go to their security office (410-636-3993 so call to verify info is still correct). (as of Oct 13). Ask the security guard at the gate for directions. You'll need, military ID, vehicle registration & proof of insurance, complete some paperwork indicating how long the vehicle is expected to be parked, your info etc.... Then, simply drive back outside and park per instructions and catch your taxi, bus or whatever mode of transportation you've chosen. One option for taxi is Associated Cab at 410-766-1234 and the one-way fare is approximately $30-40 to/from BWI.
  • (As of Sept 17):  Ft Meade Outdoor Recreation has long-term storage but has a long waiting list so likely not an option for Space-A.  If successful, use the DoD Worker's Commuter Shuttle to get to the Odenton MARC Station. BWI is next stop north on Marc Penn Line (schedule here).

Typical Flight Destinations

  • Primarily Patriot Express Flights to Ramstein (approx 3 per week as of Nov 2015) and Aviano/Incirlik through Ramstein (1 per week) and some to/from McGuire AFB.  A monthly Patriot Express Schedule is available from the AMC Passenger Service Counter in-person and on their Facebook Page (7 days before the next month).  The regular flights to/from NAS Jacksonville were discontinued in Oct 13 - that mission now goes to/from Norfolk instead of BWI.

Local Expert Advice!

  • Dining Options: There is one restaurant nearby which is outside of security, and the food is only slightly better than the service, which isn't much. If flying in to BWI, it is recommended to dine inside the security area prior to leaving it for the USO and AMC Counter, which is outside of security.
  • Need a Taxi?: If your budget is really tight take the free Amtrak/Marc shuttle, outside the USO/AMC area, to the Amtrak station (a couple miles) where the taxi rates are a little better than the exclusive "BWI Airport Taxi"s found outside baggage claim.
