Youth Services

A wide range of programs is available for youth and teens, including youth sports and recreation programs, educational programs, and programs that support leadership and career development.  Please review the information to learn what programs and services are available at this installation.

Youth Services

NAS Kingsville has a Youth Center that offers School Age Care, summer day camp, holiday youth program, special tours, and events for youth, ages 5-12. Older teens can be included as teen leaders. Call Youth Center at 361-516-6718.

School Age Care

The SAC program is located in building 2742 and can be reached by calling 361-516-6718.

Hours of operation are:

  • Before School Care: 6 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.
  • After School Care: 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Special Summer camp hours: 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on selected calendar days.

A variety of activities are offered for children ages kindergarten through 12 years of age. After School Care is a key part of the program. Children are picked-up at area schools located in Kingsville and brought back to the SAC Center for snacks, homework assistance, and positive interactions. Holiday Camps are available during school closings.

SAC supports and encourages military and DOD children to participate in community youth events. Families eligible to participate in the program are military dependents, DOD civilians, and contractors onboard NAS Kingsville. Fees are based on total family income. Your income will be assessed upon registration and will fall into one of 13 income categories. Fees for full-time care are due on the 1st and 15th of each month. Hourly care is$7.00 per hour and is due at the time of pick up. Full-time and part-time care is available to meet the varying needs of our parents and children. The SAC Program is currently accredited by the Council on Accreditation.

The Youth Activities Center is located in building 2744 and can be reached at 361-516-6718. The hours of operation vary. Please call the center for details.

The Youth Program provides age-appropriate activities for students 10-18. Youth can participate in Open Recreation, Keystone Club, and Summer Employment.  A variety of supervised field trips, overnight lock-ins, and other activities are offered within these areas. Youth can provide input as to what the program will offer.  The staff focuses on providing youth the opportunity to enjoy positive and safe activities with their peers.  Families eligible to participate in the program are military dependents, DOD civilians, and contractors onboard NAS Kingsville. Fees are based on total family income and apply to all children who attend on a regular basis.

Youth Recreation and Sports

For information regarding after-school athletics or youth events, call Kleberg County Parks and Recreation at 361-595-8591 for softball, soccer, T-Ball, and other teams.

Youth Sponsorship

Kids in Touch With Kids Sponsorship Program "Kids in Touch With Kids" is a pen pal program sponsored by the Youth Programs Center. If you are moving to Kingsville, you can correspond with a pen pal from the base and find out about the area before you arrive. Youth wishing a sponsor and information about NAS Kingsville should write or call the Youth Activities Center.

Youth Employment Programs

MWR has a program to hire about a dozen 16-18 years old each summer. They will be working at the Gym, Swimming Pool, and the main MWR office. They all will go thru a job “boot camp” at the Fleet and Family Support Center where they will write resumes, learn dress-for-success, and balance checkbooks.

Boys and Girls Club

Boys and Girls Club of America is located at 1238 E. Kenedy Ave 361-592-2100. Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.
