ON-BASE HOUSING AT JOINT BASE LEWIS MCCHORD (JBLM)

Located in the Puget Sound region just south of Tacoma, Washington, Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM) is a premier installation in the Pacific Northwest. It provides world-class installation support to more than 40,000 Active-Duty, Guard, and Reserve service members and around 15,000 civilian workers. This base incorporates Fort Lewis, McChord Field, and Camp Murray.

At Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM), Liberty Military Housing provides more than 5,200 new and meticulously renovated homes in 22 different communities on base. We also feature four community centers that residents can use for special events and community gatherings. We understand that your military life needs to be flexible, and our experienced team is here to help make the process of finding and renting your home as easy as possible. When you live in a Liberty Military Housing home, average utility costs are included in your monthly rent. We don’t run credit checks and there are no hidden fees. Here, you have everything you need to make your new house a home, including a vibrant community and access to 24/7 maintenance services.

Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM) is surrounded by pristine nature and plenty of outdoor activities. The Puget Sound offers year-round boating, fishing, whale watching, and scuba diving. Take a 90-minute scenic drive to the majestic Cascade Mountains, or visit the region’s most recognizable landmark, Mt. Rainier. For more adventures, head two hours south to Portland, Oregon, or fly a kite at family-friendly Ocean Shores, where you can drive your vehicle directly onto the beach. We proudly call Tacoma, Olympia, and Seattle our neighbors and encourage our residents to explore these beautiful cities.

For easy, convenient travel, SeaTac International Airport is approximately 40 minutes away via I-5. Greyhound Lines and Amtrak also run locally from downtown Tacoma.

A home on-base gives you easy access to services and amenities including two commissaries, the Fort Lewis and McChord Main Exchanges, Madigan Army Medical Center, McChord Clinic, and the passenger terminal for Space-A Travel. Catch a movie at the Carey Theater or join a bowling league at Bowl Arena Lanes. There are six elementary schools on-base, and middle and high school students living on-base are bused to public schools off-base.
