Placer, officially the Municipality of Placer, is a 2nd class municipality in the province of Masbate, Philippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 55,826 people.[3]
Placer was created as a municipality from the barrio of the same name which used to belong to Cataingan, Masbate, by virtue of Republic Act No. 292, passed June 16, 1948.[4] It is the only municipality which is dominantly Cebuano-speaking and a common yearly contender and former champion in Cebu City's Sinulog Festival.
