  • Athletic Step
    A simple and fun class using a height-adjustable step. Great functional workout to tone the lower body and increase overall conditioning.
  • Aqua Cycle
    Tired of the normal cycle class? If the answer is “yes”, then join us for Aqua Cycle! A challenging and restorative alternative to your normal cycle class.
  • Aqua Zumba
    Brings new meaning to the idea of an invigorating workout. It combines Zumba rhythm and dance steps with a pool party. Fun but challenging, water-based, body- toning workout.
  • BARRE- Ballet- inspired moves with elements of Pilates, dance, yoga, and strength training.
  • Boot Camp
    Interval training alternating various body sculpting moves and aerobic exercises on the step, with barbells, bands, or weights.
  • BOGA Flow
    A floating Yoga class! BOGA Flow is essentially Yoga on a BOGA Mat in the water and is an exciting new way to enhance your current yoga practice. The BOGA board is large enough and sturdy enough to support someone standing on it. Yoga practices on a board floating in the water help to improve concentration, balance, and core strength. All levels from beginner to advanced yogis welcome and encouraged to try a class.
  • Burn & Firm Cycle
    A challenging cycle workout with emphasis on shaping the glutes and legs. Intervals on the bike are combined with squats, lunges, and plyometric off the bike.
  • Cardio Kickboxing
    Anaerobic exercise combined with boxing and traditional martial arts movements. Strengthen and tone your muscles with a variety of punches, strikes, and kicks to develop killer legs, toned arms, and abs.
  • Core
    Utilizing both the mat and the stability ball, this low impact class provides high impact results! The focus of exercises activates all the core muscles using a variety of sequences, leaving you feeling strong, flexible, and balanced.
  • Cycling
    Cycling is more than just a workout. Each session has a specific purpose and is carefully designed and timed to energize, challenge and empower students to achieve their health and fitness goals.
  • Dance & Tone
    Full body high energy class where you can dance to great music and tone your muscles using hand weights at the same time. Come join the party!
  • HIIT
    High-Intensity Interval training, a total body, aerobic, and strength conditioning workout. This type of training gets and keeps your heart rate up and burns more fat in less time.
  • Pilates
  • Devised to utilize both the mat and stability ball, this low impact class provides high impact results! The principles of Pilates are applied in sequences that activate the core muscles leaving you feeling strong, flexible, and balanced.
  • PiYo
    PiYo is a hybrid, athletic workout, which combines the mind/body practices of yoga and Pilates, as well as the principles of stretch, strength training, conditioning and dynamic movement. During a PiYo class, you will find yourself standing in a yoga pose one minute, and down on the floor in a Pilates pose the next!
  • Prenatal Yoga
    This is a wonderful way to connect with yourself and your baby for the journey that lies ahead! No previous yoga experience is necessary to participate in yoga classes for pregnancy.
  • Sculpted
    The original full-body barbell workout. Sculpted are a total body strength and conditioning workout combining the benefit of traditional weight training for that lean, tone look with fast results.
  • Strength & Cardio
    This class will push you by training hard using a variety of cardio (high intensity), strength (w/weights, bands, or body strength), and core. You will feel like a champion after this class.

    Temple Building Dance Fitness offers a high intensity, cardio inspired workout to Contemporary Gospel and Gospel Hip Hop music. We are family-friendly and all skill levels and abilities are welcome!
  • Ultimate Workout

Aquatics Fort Bragg

Fort Bragg Family & MWR operates 5 swimming pools on Fort Bragg and offers a large number of aquatic classes and programs throughout the year. The outdoor pools typically open for the season around Memorial Day and close for the season around Labor Day. The pools are open to DoD ID Cardholders and their guests.

Lane Reservation Request for Military Training

Reservations for military training are made at Tucker Indoor Pool during operating hours. Reservations cannot be made by email or over the phone. All signed reservation requests shall be checked and approved by Aquatics Staff. It is recommended that you request a copy once your reservation is approved with staff signature. Without a signed approval form from both a Unit Commander and an Aquatic Staff Member, the reservation form will not be valid.

Atchley Outdoor Pool

Daily Entry Fees

There is an entry fee for the following pools: Tolson Indoor Pool, Normandy Outdoor Pool, and Twin Lions Outdoor Pool. Prices are as follows:

Youth (Fort Bragg Fighting Fish)

The Fort Bragg Fighting Fish is a USA Swimming age-group team. Our groups range from developmental swimmers to experienced high school age/senior-level swimmers. Swimmers are encouraged to become well-rounded athletes focusing on strokes, flexibility, and good sportsmanship. The team competes in swim meets around the area. All our coaches are ASCA certified. Open to all youth swimmers, ages 5 years and older.

Adults (Masters Swim Club)

Fort Bragg Masters is a diverse group of competitive, triathlete, and fitness swimmers.
Every practice has a United States Masters Swimming coach. We welcome swimmers of all ability levels!

Evaluation by coach required prior to joining.

United States Masters Swimming Membership required to participate (Free 30 Day Trial membership available, must purchase full USMS membership after trial period).

Open to DoD ID Cardholders, ages 18 years and older.

Regular schedule (October 2019 – May 2020):

Pool Parties

During Hours Pools Parties

  • $100 for the first hour; $50 each hour after, for up to 25 guests, party room, tables, and chairs. Each additional guest above 25 will be an additional $4 each.
  • Saturday and Sunday only: 12:30-2:30 p.m., and 3:30-5:30 p.m.

After Hours Pool Parties

  • $150 for the first hour; $75 each hour after, for up to 25 guests, party room, tables, and chairs. Each additional guest above 25 will be an additional $4 each.
  • Monday – Sunday, 7:30 p.m. – 12 a.m.

Set-Up

Families may come in up to 30 minutes early to set up. We ask that the room be left in the same condition in which they found to avoid additional fees. A $25 cleaning fee will be added if the party fails to clean up after the event.

Reservations

Party reservations can be made 2 weeks in advance of the party date for Normandy Outdoor Swimming Pool or Twin Lions Outdoor Swimming Pool. Payment is due in full at the time the reservation is made.

Pool Use

Party groups have the use of the pool. Children under 7 are required to have parents in the water at a ratio of 1 parent per 2 children. During hours parties will be in conjunction with normal recreational swim activities, to include clearing the pool for breaks. After-hours parties will be outside normal operating hours of the pool. Party groups are required to follow all posted pool rules.

Payment Terms

Payment is due in full at the time the reservation is made. Cash, check, Visa, and MasterCard have accepted forms of payment. Please make all checks payable to DFMWR. A $25 fee will be charged on any check that is returned for insufficient funds.

Cancellation/Refund Policy

Cancellations must be made a minimum of 7 days prior to the scheduled party date in order to obtain a full refund.  Cancellations are not made 7 days prior will not be refunded. All refunds require a completed refund request form and are subject to the approval of the Aquatics Director. Payments made by credit card can be refunded directly onto the credit card that was used to make the original payment. Payments made by cash or check will be refunded in the form of a check. Please allow up to two weeks for refund checks to be processed. Parties will be canceled during inclement weather/thunderstorm conditions. The responsible person listed below should contact the manager on duty during working hours for a determination as to whether the party will be canceled because of adverse weather conditions. North Carolina weather is sporadic and unpredictable; however, we will do our best to make a determination as soon as possible.

Pool Rules

  • Pools are open to Pass Holders and their guests. Pass Holders must show their pass and ID card prior to use.
  • Adult Supervision: Any Pass Holder under the age of 14 (per AR 215-3) must be accompanied by an adult guardian 18 years of age or older. Each adult Pass Holder may accompany a maximum of 6 children at one time. (Special accommodation letter available for households with more than 6 children.) Pass Holders, ages 7 and under must be within arm’s reach of an adult guardian 18 years of age or older at all times.
  • Guests may be signed into the facility with an authorized MWR User. Only 2 guests per household.
  • Pass Holders and their guests must use the pool in a safe manner.
  • Dress: All patrons must wear swimsuits that are appropriate for a public appearance, no thongs, sports bras, basketball shorts, underwear, cut off’s or denim shorts. All suits must be lined. Children who are not potty-trained must wear swim diapers while in the pool.
  • No food or drinks allowed within 10 feet of the pool. No glass or pottery-type containers allowed in the pool area.
  • Persons with skin disorders, bandages, open wounds, eye, nose, or mouth discharge may be refused entrance to the facility.
  • The pool will be cleared periodically to allow for safety checks.
  • Absolutely no running, horseplay, diving, or obscene language permitted within the facility.
  • Inflatable rafts, water wings/floaties, and toys are not permitted in the pool (Guidance from CDC).
  • Young children may wear Coast Guard-approved life vests in the pool. Children must be within arm’s reach of an adult guardian 18 years of age or older at all times.
  • Prolonged underwater breath-holding is strictly prohibited.
  • Lifeguards will be provided during posted hours and will have the authority to close the pool for weather or safety reasons. Pass Holders and their guests must comply with Lifeguards’ instructions or face loss of use privileges.
  • No alcoholic beverages are allowed in the facility. Intoxicated patrons will be denied entry and asked to vacate the premises.
  • Lifeguards will be obeyed and shall have the authority to issue guidance on anything not covered in the Pool Rules/SOP.
  • Lifeguards and Management will monitor the number of residents allowed inside the pool area at any one time in order to stay within maximum capacity requirements. Access is granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Children ages 15 and younger are required to take a swim test before using diving boards or slides.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get my children on the swim team?

Please call +1 (910)643-8533 and speak to one of the coaches. Please bear in mind that the swim team is not a learn-to-swim program. Prospective team members must be able to consistently swim the backstroke and front crawl for 25 yards each.

What do I need to do to register for swimming lessons?

All children must be registered with CYS prior to enrolling for swim lessons.  Please visit Parent Central Services for registration information.

What programs are available in the pool year-round?

Unit training, lap swim, water aerobics, youth, and adult swim teams, swimming lessons, lifeguarding, and water safety instruction classes.

Which pools are open during the summer months?

Typically all outdoor pools are open during the summer months.

How do I go about getting a lifeguard certification?

The American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is taught periodically throughout the year.  Prospective lifeguard students must be able to complete the following prerequisites to take the life-guarding course:  Swim 300 yards non-stop swimming only the front crawl or breaststroke; Swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using ladder or steps within one minute and 40 seconds; tread water without the use of hands for two minutes.

Can we bring coolers into the pools?

Yes. However, glass bottles and alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited.

What does my child need to bring for the swim class?

Each learn-to-swim student needs to have the following items for every class session: Bathing suit, towel, swim diaper for those not toilet trained.

At what age should my child start learning to swim?

The sooner the child is introduced to water, the better. Our parent and child classes start at 6 months. The parent or guardian must be in the water and holding onto the child throughout the class.

What is Lap Swim?

Lap swim is designed for more organized swimming up and down the length of the pool repeatedly.

Pools are kept at a comfortable temperature. Kickboards pull buoys, and hand paddles, are available at the facility to maximize your lap swimming or water walking experience. Ask a lifeguard for assistance in finding these items.

ID cards will be retained by facility staff when requesting equipment.

Lap swim is intended for adults, ages 18 years and older. Anyone under 18 years of age is required to take a swim test to lap swim. The swim test consists of swimming 50 meters of freestyle and breaststroke. They will also have to tread water for 2 minutes.

Khalil has more than 10 years of training experience, as well, he is a former Ft Bragg and All Army Boxer.

Policies & FAQs

Who is eligible to utilize the Physical Fitness Centers (PFCs)?

Active duty military personnel and Families, Reservists and Families, Delayed Entry/Delayed Training recruits, cadets of Armed Forces academies, Retirees and Families, DOD ID cardholders and their family members are authorized to use PFCs. Additional authorized patrons can be found in table 7-1, AR 215-1, Sept. 24, 2010. Usage of PFCs is per AR 215-1, Sept. 24, 2010, Chapter 7, paragraphs 7-1 and 7-2. If MWR facilities cannot accommodate all authorized patrons, the garrison commander will determine specific use priorities. Such priorities are based on priorities established in table 7–1.

Why are the Physical Fitness Centers 100% Identification Card Check?

Garrison commanders will ensure patrons are identified as authorized patrons prior to using any MWR program. Proof of eligibility must be presented. Presentation of proper identification for access to PFCs is per AR 215-1, Sept. 24, 2010, Chapter 7, paragraph 7-3.

What are the acceptable forms of identification for access to the Physical Fitness Centers? 

The common access card, issued to active duty military personnel, Selected Reserve, DOD civilian employees (both APF and NAF), and other eligible personnel, will be used for identification purposes.

AR 600–8–14 prescribes identification cards for retired military personnel; Family members; Reserve personnel other than the Selected Reserve; and others not authorized the common access card.

Identification of Delayed Entry/Delayed Training Program recruits will be by DD Form 4/1 and 4/2 or 4/3 (Enlistment or Reenlistment Agreement–Armed Forces of the United States) and a picture ID card.

DA Form 1602 (Civilian Identification) may be used as identification for retired DA civilian employees and family members of current and retired DA civilian employees. Current and retired DA civilian employees may request the issue of DA Form 1602.

Identification for exchange students and au pairs will be a locally developed card or the commander or designee may issue a limited duration letter of access (similar to letters issued for exchange service used by agents to purchase for eligible incapacitated patrons.)

A locally developed card or letter may be used to identify individuals or groups of individuals who are granted access to MWR facilities per table 7–1 and who are not eligible for identification cards prescribed above.

Acceptable forms of identification are per AR 215-1, Sept. 24, 2010, Chapter 7, paragraph 7-3.

Are there any exceptions to the 100% Identification Card Check?

The exception is during the installation Physical Training (PT) hour of 6:30-7:30 a.m. during the workweek for those Soldiers in their PT uniform.

What is the youth age policy for utilization of the Physical Fitness Centers?

Youth may use adult indoor PFCs only under the following provisions:

  • Soldier programs must not be displaced.
  • Children ages 12 years and younger may not use mechanical, cardiovascular equipment, or strength, sauna at any time.
  • As a family member, children and youth (ages 15 years and younger), not otherwise prohibited in paragraph AR 251-1 8-20 (d) Fitness module, to include resistance training area and cardiovascular training area, must be actively participating in the same activity and under the direct and constant supervision of a parent or guardian.
  • Youth must be a participant in a special program, organized and conducted by CYS, schools, or other authorized youth organizations as far as when CYS Program are held within Fitness Facilities.

What is the policy for youth access to gender-specific bathrooms or locker rooms?

Children of kindergarten age and older will use gender-appropriate showers, locker rooms, and bathrooms.

Is footwear required while working out in a Physical Fitness Center?

Proper footwear is required. Bare feet or exercising without the proper footwear is not permissible.

Boots and shoes (which are not athletic or court-designed) may be worn by personnel using free weights; however, they may not be worn when the boot or shoe makes contact with equipment during use. Such equipment would include cross trainers, treadmills, stair climbers, bicycles, and selectorized machines with footpads. Court-designed, running, or wrestling/boxing shoes must be worn when using this type of equipment. Flip-Flops or Sandals may not be worn while using free weights or exercise equipment.

Are there childcare options available for patrons who would like to utilize the Fitness Centers on Fort Bragg?

Parents who frequent the Family and MWR Physical Fitness Centers (PFCs) are encouraged to utilize Loredo CDC located on Pope AAF, across the parking lot from Hercules Fitness Center.

Why are workout bags not permitted within exercise areas? 

In an effort to maintain a safe and secure environment, all bags to include: gym bags, large purses, duffel bags, backpacks, and other bags are not authorized in any physical fitness center exercise area; most notably weight rooms, basketball courts, and cardiovascular areas.

Do the Physical Fitness Centers have a dress code?

Yes. The following dress code will be enforced at all times.

What’s not permitted:

  • Clothing is worn as an outer garment, which is obviously intended to be worn as an undergarment. Sports bras with or without hooks or snaps are considered undergarments.
  • Clothing with obscene, slanderous, or vulgar words or drawings. Also, clothing which advocates the overthrow of the U.S. Government.
  • Colored bandannas are worn with clothing such as baseball caps, matching jackets, or other same color clothing that suggests gang membership; clothing depicting pictures or messages of violence; or emblems, patches, and/or other items worn to indicate membership in a gang.
  • Articles of apparel, which include, but are limited to t-shirts or hats which depict drugs paraphernalia, or which advocate the use of drugs.
  • Attire that is immodest or degrading to other patrons.
  • Bare feet, except in facilities where footwear is inappropriate, such as swimming pools. Shoes without socks or stockings are authorized.
  • Items of distinctive military uniforms worn by unauthorized persons or mixed with civilian clothing.

Are there work out aids that are not authorized for use within the Physical Fitness Centers?

Yes. Plastic or rubber suits must not be worn due to the danger of heat exhaustion. Hypoxic Training-High Altitude Training Masks are not authorized due to the potential risks that may involve cardiac or pulmonary conditions, hemoglobin abnormalities, hypertension, or other health issues.

Can I request specific music to be played?

No. There are three specific radio stations that will be played; 88.3, 96.5, 98.1. Management will not take requests to play personally submitted music.

Callahan Physical Fitness Center

Callahan PFC is open 24 hours a day, including the Federal and Training Holidays. Staffed hours are 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.

In order to use the facility between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., you must register your DoD ID card at Callahan PFC. Registration only needs to be completed once per DoD ID card and can be done between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily or no later than two hours prior to the close of business in the case of holiday operations/scheduling. You must be 18 years of age or older to utilize 24/7 access.
