Child Development Center-Cannon AFB

The CDCs are OPEN to all categories EXCEPT students, non-employed and other non-working categories.

There are two child development centers (CDC) located at Cannon AFB--Cannon CDC and Chavez CDC.  The Cannon CDC is located on base at 335 W DL Ingram Avenue.  This center has a capacity of 158 children.  The Chavez CDC is situated in the Chavez housing area at 101 James Boatwright Avenue.  The Chavez CDC has a capacity of 168 children.  Both centers provide care for children for 6 weeks until the start of Kindergarten.

Both centers are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.  The staff supports the development of the whole child and provides active, hand-on learning experiences to meet the individual needs of each child in the program.  To encourage children’s growth and ensure activities are developmentally appropriate, staff observes all children regularly and uses this assessment in planning related activities.  Parents and staff work together to set goal for each child based on the strengths, progress and needs.
