The Port Angeles School District Infant Toddler Program began as a 1.5 hour group for parents to socialize and develop basic play, motor, language and cognitive skills with their children and gain parenting information.
Children are served because interviews of parents and observation of students indicate the children are behind in two or more developmental areas. These students may, by law, be served by monthly consults in their home, by visits to day care or by center-based activities. Weekly services are not required.
Each child served is placed on an Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) for developmental improvements. An evaluation is done prior to the age of three years to determine if children are eligible for special education services.
