Deployment Support

Deployment can be a challenging phase of the military lifecycle, but it’s important to know that you don’t have to go through it alone. The military provides a variety of resources and support programs — ranging from educational briefings to morale calls — for your loved ones, children, and service members to ease the stress of deployment. Military members may be assigned to a specific installation but support may come from local communities, Yellow Ribbon events, or the installation itself.

Family Deployment Support

Beale Air Force Base is the only bed-down base that flies high aerial manned and unmanned aircraft. Because of the worldwide need for instantaneous information, these aircraft are in high demand. As a result, deployments are common at Beale and high deployment rates are the norm.

As you get ready to deploy, you will attend Beale Deployment Out-Processing’s Readiness and Deployment Information, part 3, within 60 days of your scheduled departure. During BDOP READI, you will receive briefings from wing leadership, the Airman and Family Readiness Center, chapel, finance, public affairs, legal, school liaison officer, and TRICARE.

BDOP READI is a two-hour mandatory appointment for deployers that takes place on the first and third Wednesday of each month. The third Wednesday briefings are provided for infrequent deployers. BDOP READI provides an opportunity for base leadership and base support agencies to discuss the importance of preparation for deployments with service members and their families with the goal of minimizing the undue stress that can be associated with deployments. Proper preparation is critical to success. Spouses are invited and strongly encouraged to attend.

Your A&FRC is here to help you understand how to cope with your deployment emotionally and financially. One of the key challenges with deployments is separation and then reunion with family and friends. We can help you stay connected, keep your relationships strong and ensure you have a solid plan for your finances.

We're also here to support the families left behind by providing sustainment services such as the Hearts Apart dinner for spouses, return and reunion workshops and, upon your return, reintegration briefings. Please give us a call as soon as you have a firm deployment date and we can discuss your specific needs or concerns.

Squadron first sergeants and key spouses maintain contact with the deployed member's family during deployments/family separations and serve as a liaison between the units and families. To support families separated by deployments and temporary duty assignments, the A&FRC offers a variety of services and programs including:

  • Free Hearts Apart activities, once a quarter, for families of deployed personnel
  • Internet access and Wi-Fi in the Discovery Resource Center so families can remain connected via email
  • A free oil change for the family's primary vehicle (two oil changes for families whose member is serving a 365-day dependent-restricted tour)
  • Four hours of free child care each quarter during the Give Parents a Break program (this program is currently suspended due to COVID-19)
  • Twice weekly (Tuesday and Thursday) reintegration briefings to help families spot readjustment issues and learn methods of reconnecting relationships
  • The Military and Family Life Consultant program supports service members and their families through non-medical, short-term, situational problem-solving counseling. Consultants can help with the stress of deployments, family separation, children's behavioral issues, reunions, relationships, and much more. Call 530-434-3705 or 530-777-8170 to talk or set up an appointment.
