Deployment Support

Deployment can be a challenging phase of the military lifecycle, but it’s important to know that you don’t have to go through it alone. The military provides a variety of resources and support programs — ranging from educational briefings to morale calls — for your loved ones, children, and service members to ease the stress of deployment. Military members may be assigned to a specific installation but support may come from local communities, Yellow Ribbon events, or the installation itself.

Family Deployment Support

The Airman and Family Readiness Center assists deploying and returning troops by providing pre-deployment briefings to the deploying member and his/her family which cover the areas of personal, legal, financial, and practical matters, emotional aspects, support agencies and networks, and A&FRC support activities. Deployment support resources are offered for family members, including reading and coloring books, vouchers for service member dolls, and dog tags or stuffed animals/dogs with voice recorders. We also provide requested information digitally through email. Sustainment activities include quarterly activities, child care such as Give Parents a Break (in conjunction with Air Force Aid Society Community Support), and a monthly newsletter. Upon return, a reintegration briefing is provided.

There are two support groups available for families. The Cannon Spouses' Club is available to join, and the Key Spouses are points of contact for each squadron during deployments. The A&FRC provides pre-deployment briefings every Monday at 9:00 a.m.  Please call to sign up at 575-784-4228.

The A&FRC offers Hearts Apart events for the families of deployed members. The events range from bowling and pool parties to family meals. These events give the family the opportunity to talk to other families that are in the same situation.
