Deployment Support Programs

Family Deployment Support

The Airman and Family Readiness Center offers information and services to assist personnel preparing for deployments, extended temporary duty travel, unaccompanied tours, and reintegration. Families are encouraged to participate in the monthly Hearts Apart program events. Families from all branches of service in the vicinity of Travis Air Force Base who are experiencing a family separation of more than 30 days are encouraged to utilize all of the programs and services. Readiness pre-deployment and reintegration briefings are offered at the A&FRC.

Support Programs

Deployed/Remote Tour Families Facebook Page

Travis Air Force Base has a Deployed/Remote Tour Families Facebook page, designed to be a place where families can go to connect to those experiencing the same situation but in a more private setting. The Facebook group is closed. Membership is controlled to ensure members are not harassed by external Facebook users trying to sell products or assaulted by rude individuals. We also use the group to share news on resources and upcoming events for deployed and remote tour families. To join, search the Deployed/Remote Tour Families group name on Facebook. Once you find the page, you will be asked to answer three simple questions. Once your membership is approved, you are free to converse with the group members as you desire.

Give Parents a Break

The Child Development Center and the Youth Center are open one evening or morning a month for referrals only. The Air Force Aid Society covers the cost of childcare. For non-Air Force members, the cost is paid for by the Friends of Military Families private organization.

Hearts Apart

Hearts Apart is a monthly program designed to promote family resiliency for geographically separated families. Hearts Apart offers a social event within the local community for families to feel supported, receive free services and food, and engage in a fun activity.

Car Care Because We Care

Air Force spouses receive a voucher, compliments of the AFAS, for a free oil change if the Air Force spouse is deploying for 30 or more days. Vouchers are provided at the A&FRC.

Additional Services

The A&FRC keeps families of deployed members informed of ongoing programs, services and benefits, and announcements are regularly posted to our Facebook page. Families are encouraged to participate in any and all of these programs through the duration of the member's deployment. Family members are also encouraged to be in regular contact with their unit key spouse for support and information. Visit the Travis United Service Organization and check out Operation Care and Comfort for base support and free events and giveaways.
