Dobuita-dori is a shopping street in the area from Keikyu Shioyori Station to the U.S. Navy base. To be precise, it is an address called Honmachi, Yokosuka City, but most locals call it "Dobuita". Although it is the origin of the name of Dobuita-do, the honmachi area originally prospered as a military port district of the Imperial Navy after the Meiji era. At that time, the Dob River flowed in the center of the road in the streets of honmachi area (present-day Dobuita-machi). Since the Dob River is in the way of traffic and car traffic, we had them provide thicker iron plates than the Navy Yard and covered the Dob River, so it came to be called "Dobuita-do" one day, and its name is still established today.
A famous handprint relief familiar to Yokosuka is embedded in the mall on Dob board street. After World War II, it prospered as a city of U.S. troops stationed in Yokosuka. Now, with the change of the times, it has come to be known nationwide as a shopping street visited by many Japanese customers from the city, the prefecture, and outside the prefecture. It is also a distinctive shopping street with a wide variety of industries. In addition, there are old-fashioned portrait shops, military shops, souvenir shops, foreign bars and restaurants, etc., and it is a unique shopping street in Japan where the atmosphere of Japan and the United States merges, and it can be said that it is the charm of Ita Street again.
