Applying for Privatized Housing Our Housing team is available to brief you on all the options you have for housing.  You can provide your information by clicking on the link to HEAT (Housing Early Assistance Tool ) to fill in information about yourself and your housing needs.HEAT allows Service Members to begin the process of applying to Military Housing or getting information about living in the community.  As soon as we receive your message, one of our housing professionals will contact you with the information you requested.

Applications can also be submitted upon arrival during your first visit to the MHO. Our staff will be able to assist in the completion of the application and will be able to discuss all your housing options. Please note, for walk-in applications, as long as you apply for housing within 30 days of arrival, you will be placed on the waiting list based on the date you departed your last duty station. If your application is turned in after 30 days of your arrival, the application date will be the date you turn it in.

Community Amenities Privatized housing is comparable to housing in the local community and provides a wide variety of amenities and support services. Community features such as a Community Center, Youth Center, Swimming Pool, Playgrounds, Parks and Picnic Areas, Fitness center and Athletic Fields, Golf Course and Bowling Center are just some of the amenities you will find at Balfour Beatty Communities. As a resident of privatized housing, contact the Property Management Office to obtain more specific information on the services available at your location.

Paying Rent for Privatized Housing Similar to living in the local community, you will sign a tenant lease agreement, typically for a one-year term. Your lease includes a military clause and a lease termination clause. You pay your monthly rent by authorizing an allotment of your BAH that is paid directly to the Property Manager. If your move occurs prior to the allotment start date, then you will need to pay the pro-rated rent directly to the Property Manager. The Tenant Lease Agreement spells out all relevant rent payment terms and conditions.

Gas and Electric Utilities At this location, homes in the community are not metered and your rent will include these utility costs, up to your full BAH amount. For more information about your utilities, please contact the Property Management Office.

Personal Property Insurance Renter’s Insurance is required prior to accepting a home.

School Information Lone Tree Elementary School (K-5) is located in the housing area and is within walking distance of most neighborhoods Bear River Middle School and Wheatland Union High School are located in the town of Wheatland. Bus transportation is available at various stops throughout the housing area, including the Youth Center.
