Legal Assistance

Legal assistance is available to you and your family.   Below, you’ll find information about claims and installation-specific programs and services. If you have questions, reach out to the legal assistance program at your installation.

Legal Services

Military families have free legal services available to them through the base legal office located on the corner of B Street and Warren Shingle Road. The Law Center offers notary services, can review contracts, can assist with the preparation of a will, and can offer limited legal advice on a variety of issues. The Law Center cannot represent individuals in lawsuits or civil court cases but can provide a list of local lawyers to individuals seeking advice.

Hours of Operation

The information for each specific topic is as follows:

Powers of attorney/notary:  No appointment is necessary. Walk-in hours are 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Thursday, and 9 a.m.-noon, Friday.

Legal assistance: Legal assistance is by appointment only, 1-3 p.m., Tuesday-Thursday. Contact the legal office by phone or email to schedule an appointment. Appointments will be conducted remotely, but requests for an in-person meeting will be accommodated.

Wills: Wills are by appointment only. Complete the appropriate worksheet and email the final ticket number to [email protected]. You will be contacted by the legal office to schedule an appointment for an in-person will execution.

While the legal office has returned to normal operations, they must also remain conscious of health and safety concerns during COVID-19. As protective measures, you must wear a mask while in the office. They recommend you bring your own pen if you will be signing documents, and only three people will be able to wait inside the legal office at a time. With that in mind, services may need to be adjusted if they are unable to safely address the demand for services. Reach out to the legal office by phone at 530-634-2928 or email [email protected].
