Fairwood Farmers Market

MISSION

Our mission is to establish a vibrant, seasonal North Spokane farmers market where neighbors can connect weekly with local growers, artisan food producers, and crafters in a festive, nurturing environment.

VISION

To revitalize and complete the Fairwood District in North Spokane with new shops, mixed-use development, a sustainable farmers market, and bicycle-friendly trails, thus making it a connected, pedestrian-friendly community. The redevelopment will involve multiple stakeholders and should capitalize on Fairwood’s proximity to the Little Spokane River, Mead Schools, the historic Bozarth Mansion, the Kalispel Golf and Country Club, and the new Children of the Sun trail along the North Spokane Corridor.

Everett Farmers Market

In January 2012 Karen Erickson and Gary Purves became the new owners and Market Masters for the Everett Farmers Market on Sundays at the Port of Everett. In 2013 it celebrated its 20th Anniversary Season, with several new and continuing Vendors from years past.

In June of 2013, the Friday Farmers Market at the Everett Mall in the parking lot between Sears and Famous Daves’ was launched.  Many customers wanted to purchase locally from the Everett Farmers Market on Sunday, as they would be out of town

Expect to see a terrific mix of delicious baked goods, beautiful bouquets of flowers, sweet, sweet honey, organic fruits and vegetables, horticultural offerings, and a variety of creative artistry. Also, expect energizing music to liven up the party as we celebrate local, nutritious, and healthy agriculture at both of the Everett Farmers Markets.

Purchase flowers weekly from local Hmong Farmers who work long hours to cultivate, deliver, and arrange seasonal flowers in beautiful bouquets. Take them home, admire, and share with others the Hmong’s dedication to making our community a brighter more colorful place to live.

As a community market, the Everett Farmers Market offers a token program for EBT/SNAP, plus Debit/Credit card swiping for convincing those who may be short of cash but would still like to shop. Also, many of our Farmers honor Senior FMNP and WIC Vouchers.

Emerson Garfield Farmer Market

Located in the parking lot of the IEL Adult Education Center (2310 North Monroe), the Emerson-Garfield Farmers’ Market is a seasonal weekly marketplace featuring around two dozen regional and neighborhood vendors.

The aim of the market is to bring fresh, healthy, affordable goods that are locally grown or produced to the residents of Emerson-Garfield as well as all those who pass through our up-and-coming neighborhood.

An intentional side benefit is that it also serves as a community hub, bringing people and organizations together and cultivating meaningful relationships.

The market takes place every Friday from 3 to 7 pm. In 2022, the season will run from June 3 to September 30.

HISTORY

The idea for the market was first hatched in May 2013 by members of the Emerson-Garfield Neighborhood Council. Thanks to additional support from Catholic Charities, Project Hope Spokane, and Knox Presbyterian Church, along with a trio of business donors, it launched mid-season (July 17) that same year with approximately 15 vendors.

Knox Presbyterian (806 W Knox) generously hosted the market in the church’s parking lot for the first three years.

The market’s first full season was in 2014. Enthusiasm on the part of the wider vendor community saw the total vendor count rise to nearly 30 during peak season; the loyalty of our patrons and their positive word of mouth helped to double total market sales.

Today the market functions as an all-volunteer initiative of the Emerson-Garfield Neighborhood Council with ongoing collaborative support from the North Monroe Business District.
