To ship pets to Spain through commercial carriers you will need a certificate stating that an animal is in good health and has been inoculated against rabies (for dogs and cats) is required.  Passengers with confirmed reservations should reconfirm with the airline 3-4 days prior to departure. This is very important since each airline can transport only a limited number of animals. Passengers should also check with the airline for proper importation and documentation requirements.

On-base residents must also register their pets with the housing office within the same 15-day time period.  All service member-owned pets must be kept current on vaccinations.  Spanish law requires annual vaccines for dogs and cats.  If your pet has been administered a three-year vaccine in the States, it must be boostered after one year to be in compliance with local regulations.
